Dr. Lisa Dunning

Founder & Principal Consultant

Kaizen Education Group was established based on the principle that "change" in the form of enhancing processes and workflow for the greater good can shift an organization's culture, while simultaneously driving efficiencies and outcomes.

Dr. Lisa Dunning is the founder of Kaizen Education Group, a firm specializing in higher education consultancy for student success initiatives and process improvement, currently consulting on the Technical Assistance Team for the Lumina Foundation’s Adult Learner Initiative. Previously, Lisa was a consultant on the Frontier Set HBCU Intermediary Team as part of a grantee portfolio for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s postsecondary transformation work.

 

Dr. Dunning spent more than 22 years working at Delaware State University (DSU), a Historically Black College and University. As Associate Vice President for Student Success, her primary focus and responsibilities included oversight for Academic Advising and Retention, Accessibility Services, Instructional Support, Academic Services for Student Athletes, Opportunity Scholars Program, and Library Services. She has extensive knowledge of student success initiatives and led the development and design of a new academic advising framework with standardized practices for the delivery of advising services. Throughout her career in higher education, she has demonstrated a commitment to student success, speaking on and writing artifacts on best practices.

Her expertise includes driving outcomes of key performance indicators while establishing strategic measures that enhance student success. Throughout her tenure in higher education, Dr. Dunning held leadership positions to include Associate Vice President for Student Success, Acting Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs, Director of the Advisement Center, and Assistant Vice President of Alumni Affairs. She taught a myriad of business courses to include International Management through the Disney International Exchange Program, Organizational Development & Change, Student Professional Development, and University Seminar.

Dr. Dunning holds a Doctor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Management, and Lean Six Sigma Certification. She was a recipient of the American Council on Education Women’s Network Rising Star Award, and her work was recognized with special commendation of student professional development programming and strengths in creating a framework for academic advising.
